Jive during WWII
Jive was originally the U.K.'s version of the American Jitterbug during WWII. When American soldiers went to Europe for the war they took the dance with them around 1940
Jive overviewThe word Jive means fake or not right. Jive derived from "jev" meaning "to talk disparagingly" in the West African Wolof language. "Jive" can also be slang for a dance associated with swing or jazz. Jive was adopted as the fifth Latin dance in 1968.

Jive is named after a 30's Mickey Mouse cartoon. In this cartoon Mickey and Minnie danced a country style jitterbug.
